Reading the Book of Mormon makes you a better reader

I've noticed that when I am actively reading the scriptures on a daily basis with my mind engaged I can read other materials faster and with better understanding. Maybe this is one of the ways the bishop's promise to you girls will be fulfilled. As your minds ponder on the words of God, they are opened up to more easily understanding other information as well!

I have noticed the same thing! Especially with my kids. Every one of my girls have excelled at reading as we maintain daily scripture study. I have journaled about this several times! I think it's a bit of miracle and maybe one of the blessings the Lord gives us as we are obedient to His commandment to read the Book of Mormon.

Reading the Book of Mormon will increase our aptitude in academic understanding and spiritual knowledge. We will become fluent in the language of the Holy Spirit to the extent that we can more effectively commune with our Father in Heaven as well.
